The short answer
- Jane, built for health and wellness practitioners, costs £29 a month on Balance for one practitioner and up to 20 appointments a month, £44 on Practice and £55 on Thrive, each including one full-time practitioner, with extra full-time practitioners at £19 or £22 a month.
- Jane's Practice and Thrive plans include unlimited SMS appointment reminders, intake forms and charting templates; its website is a separate add-on at £59 a month per clinic.
- Setmore prices in US dollars only: its Free plan covers up to 4 users with email reminders, and SMS reminders need its Pro plan, charged per user.
- Square Appointments is free for a single location with no limit on staff calendars and includes text and email reminders; Plus costs £29 a month per location.
- Timely starts from £4, £7 or £9 a week with unlimited team members and SMS included, and the bill adjusts with the bookings you take.
- Fresha costs £14.95 a month for one person or £9.95 per bookable team member, excluding VAT, and takes 20% of a new marketplace client's first visit, which is £12 plus VAT on a £60 massage.
- Booksy costs £40 a month plus £5 for each additional team member, plus VAT, and takes 30% of a new client's first visit, minimum £5, only when its Boost feature is switched on.
- Believe Websites costs £49 a month flat for any number of therapists, takes 0% commission, and designs and builds a bespoke website on your own domain for £0 upfront; its text reminders and card payments are built but not switched on, and it has no intake forms.
Massage therapists book differently from salons. Appointments are long, usually an hour or ninety minutes, so a single no-show costs a big slice of the day. Most therapists ask a new client to fill in a health questionnaire before the first treatment and keep notes afterwards. Plenty work alone, from a room at home, a rented clinic room or as a mobile therapist, and plenty more share a small clinic with two or three others. And clients mostly find a therapist by searching their town, then reading the website and the reviews.
This guide compares seven options on what decides it for a massage therapist: what you pay each month on your own and with three therapists, whether it handles intake forms and text reminders, what a marketplace takes from a first massage, and whether you end up with a website of your own. Every figure was read from each company's own pricing page on 28 October 2026.

Booksy and Fresha quote prices excluding VAT. Jane, Square, Setmore and Timely do not state VAT treatment on their pricing pages. Setmore prices in US dollars only; we have not converted it. Prices change; check each source before you decide.

Setmore's Free plan also costs nothing for up to 4 users but sends no text reminders, and is priced in US dollars, so it is not charted. Card fees, extra texts and any separate website are not included. Believe Websites does not take card payments yet.

Read from each pricing page on 28 October 2026. Jane counts a full-time practitioner as 24 or more booked hours a week; part-time practitioners cost £9.50 on Practice or £11 on Thrive. Setmore Pro is charged per user in US dollars and is not charted.
On your own, Square, Fresha and Timely all cost less than our £49, and Booksy and Jane come close. In a clinic of three, Square and Timely stay cheapest, Fresha and Booksy climb with each therapist, and Jane, which is priced per practitioner, becomes the most expensive of the seven. Our £49 does not move whether there is one of you or ten.
Intake forms, notes and reminders
For a massage therapist the booking itself is the easy part. What takes time is the health questionnaire before a first treatment, the notes afterwards, and chasing people who forget. Here is what each pricing page lists.
| Intake or consultation forms | Text reminders | Card payments and deposits | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Believe Websites | No | Coming soonemail confirmations and reminders today | Coming soon |
| Jane | Yesintake forms, charting templates, treatment plans | Unlimited on Practice and Thrivenot on Balance | Yes1.5% + 20p online |
| Setmore | Not on the pricing page | Pro only500 SMS credits a month per Pro user | Via Square, Stripe or PayPaldeposits on Pro |
| Square Appointments | Not on the pricing page | Included on Freeconfirmations by text on Plus | Yes1.75% in person on Free, 1.4% + 25p online |
| Timely | YesConsult app on Run; sent before the visit from Boost | Included1 to 3 per booking, then 4p to 8p | Yes1.59% + 5p in person, 1.85% + 30p online |
| Fresha | Not on the pricing page | 20 free a month per team memberthen 6p each, excluding VAT | Yes1.19% + 20p in person, 1.40% + 25p online |
| Booksy | Not on the pricing page | Confirmations and reminders always free | Yes1.29% + 20p + VAT; no-show protection |
If your work leans clinical, sports and remedial massage alongside physios and osteopaths, Jane is the one built for it: intake forms, charting templates, outcome surveys and treatment plans are on every plan, and Thrive adds room and equipment scheduling. Timely has consultation forms too. On the other pricing pages, forms are not listed. We do not do them at all.

What a marketplace takes from a first massage
Two of the seven run consumer marketplaces that charge for new clients they send you. Fresha takes 20% of a new marketplace client's first visit, with a £4 minimum, plus VAT; returning clients are free. Booksy takes 30% of a new client's first visit, minimum £5, plus VAT, but only if you switch Boost on. Jane, Setmore, Square and Timely list no commission. We take 0% on every booking.
Fresha's and Booksy's rates exclude VAT. Booksy charges only while Boost is switched on, and only for clients who first book through it.
| Rate | On a £60 first massage | |
|---|---|---|
| Fresha | 20%, £4 minimum | £12 + VAT |
| Booksy, Boost on | 30%, £5 minimum | £18 + VAT |
| Jane, Setmore, Square, Timely | None stated | £0 |
| Believe Websites | 0% | £0 |
The trade-off is real: a marketplace can put you in front of people who were never going to find you, and that is worth paying for if your diary is empty. If your clients mostly come back, or come from word of mouth and searching your town, the commission is money for clients you would have had anyway. We wrote about this in more depth in Believe Websites vs Fresha.
Your own website
People looking for a massage usually search their town, read what you offer and check the reviews before they book. That is the job a website does, and here the seven are very different.
- Jane offers Jane Websites as an add-on at £59 a month per clinic, on top of the plan.
- Fresha offers a Smart Website add-on at £12.95 a month; its pricing page does not say whether it runs on your own domain.
- Square Appointments includes a Square Online booking website on every plan; its appointments pricing page does not say whether it runs on your own domain.
- Timely includes a free, customisable mini-website on every plan; its pricing page does not say whether it runs on your own domain.
- Setmore gives you a custom booking page and a booking widget for Wix, Weebly and WordPress, not a website.
- Booksy's pricing page offers a Booksy profile and profile link, not a website.
- Believe Websites designs and builds a bespoke website on your own domain, www.yourbusiness.co.uk, for £0 upfront, and changes it whenever you message us.
Every site we build is set up with structured data, a page for each treatment, clear details of where you work and when, and a new article each month about your town and your services. Your dashboard shows an AI Search Readiness score so you can see what is in place. The full offer is on our home page.
Where we lose
- No intake forms or treatment notes. Jane and Timely have them. If you need health questionnaires handled in your booking system, we are not it.
- No text reminders yet. Our confirmations and reminders go by email; text reminders are built but not switched on.
- No card payments or deposits yet. Built, not switched on. On a ninety-minute booking, a deposit matters, and everyone else here can take one.
- No marketplace. We do not send you strangers browsing for a massage.
- A 12-month minimum term. Square, Timely, Fresha and Booksy all let you leave whenever you like. We ask for twelve months because we build the website for nothing up front.
- Not the cheapest on your own. Square Free costs nothing, and Fresha and Timely start well under our £49.
So which one should you pick?
- A sports or remedial therapist who wants clinical notes, intake forms and treatment plans: Jane, on Practice.
- A solo or mobile therapist who wants to pay nothing and still send text reminders: Square Appointments Free.
- A therapist or clinic who wants texts and forms included and a bill that follows how busy you are: Timely.
- A new therapist with an empty diary who wants a marketplace sending clients: Fresha or Booksy, and count the commission.
- A therapist or clinic who wants their own website, built for them, at a price that never rises with the team, and to keep every penny of every booking: Believe Websites.
